Right now we have a raw opening w/ open piping - no wier, no basket, nothing - in the wall of the pool. Just the metal cover on the pool deck to keep you from stepping into it. The only filtration right now is at the pump itself. I would like to replace the skimmer this spring while we are doing a bunch of other maintenaince, but have no idea how to determine what size/brand of skimmer i will need. Other parts are Hayward, but certainly not original - much too new.missing skimmer

We have an old in-ground gunnite pool which, at some point in the past, lost it's skimmer entirely.
