I have a Hayward 4 barrel filter housing (so I thought) I just bought the house and know very little about pools and up keep. YouTube is my friend..... Not knowing the history of the filters that are currently in use I figured it would be best to just replace with new. Previous owner did not take very good care of things. When I opened up the filter housing to see what was inside I found out I had 8 filters not 4. I have a plastic divider or spacer that puts 2 together to make 1 large filter. My question is this normal ? it does look like these will be easier to clean then the longer ones.

Re: Question on Cartridge Filters
Can be normal, with cartridge filters what is the absolute size of particles they trap? Most are just strainers and therefore a waste of money. Needs to be 4 micron or better ideally. Sand is only 20 microns but Dryden Aqua's AFM ng is 1 micron now we are talking filtration and using the electricity wisely.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
