Partial pool draining

I have a salt water chlorine generation system on my pool. My salt levels are way too high (7500ppm instead of required 3200ppm). I'm told i need to partially drain my pool and refill with fresh water. How much can i safely drain from my pool without worry of floating the pool. I live in Houston - it's not like i have dry soil here.

Before you drain half your pool are you reading the salt level from the SWG, or have you done an independent test?
