Repairing a cracked sand filter?

Postby Toad » Wed 28 May, 2008 12:45

I have a Hayward sand filter and the tank has a tiny crack at the top along the seam. Although it is a tiny crack, due to the pressure, I imagine a fair amount of water is escaping this way.

What is the best way to repair this kind of hairline crack? Is fiberglass cloth and epoxy the best way or am I just better off buying a new filter tank?

how old is the tank? hayward warranties splits at seams for one year on newer filters. in the past they offered a ten year warranty of seams. you can't really patch it though. you'd be better off replacing it.
