Can't decide

We are wanting to purchase an in ground pool and can't decide how deep of a pool to install. Should we go just 6 feet or all the way to 8? If you had to do it all over again, what would you do and why? :?

I live in Texas, where the season is plenty long and heating of the pool not necessary.
So the amount of water to heat is not in the play. The depth keeps cooler water available thru summer which is very important as well as keeping the warm water at deep for the freezing temperatures when you run the pump 3 days solid.
For the kids and their friends, diving is the most enjoyable fun part at the pool.
It ads to more diversity to its use and value to the investment.
Make sure you have good liability in HOI and strict rules posted!
But the preference of the main use of the pool /diving or polo, water tennis,voleyball/ has the final word.
I would not personally spend 20 000 bucks for a wading pool, ever. It does not cost that much more to go all the way. Also, 6000 gallons extra does not cost that much on chemicals.
