Pool heater

Pool heater installed incorrectly.

New Starite 400,000 gas heater installed with pipes reversed...inflow and outflow backwards.
Pump ran 24/7 for one week....before plumbing could be corrected.

Does this cause any damage, or limit the expected lifespan of the heater?
Does this void warranty?

Thanks.

Usually the safety systems will still prevent issues. As for warranty I guess it could be voided but I am not sure it would be as the installer would probably be the one making the call. Unlikely he will tell the manufacturer he installed in backwards for a week or so.

On the other hand I have come across heaters that were plumbed backwards for years. They were fine. Probably cost a ton in gas and took forever to heat but once corrected they ran great.
