Underwater lights in pool

Postby LifeintheSun » Mon 22 May, 2023 03:34

Hi All,

Am a complete pool newbie, have just acquired an old house with a swimming pool (salt water cleaning system).

The underwater lights are not working and no power to the cables when the (broken) lamps were removed to inspect the cables.

Have no cash this season to fix this, so the electrician recommended to just fill the lamp cavities with Silicone to waterproof it all for this season and then fix it properly next season when/if I have some more funds.
Just wanted to check here to see if this is a sensible option for now?

Thanks in advance,

Trev

Silicon seems to breakdown and water passes, I prefer modified polymer like Sikka flex or similar.
When you do change lights go LED saves a whole bunch of pain.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.

Thank you very much for the reply. And this Sikka Flex will be easy to dig out when the time comes to change the lamps?
