Pool Light question

Postby JimW » Tue 07 May, 2024 19:26

My pool light does not work the bulb is bad. The current light uses the small halogen bulb (250watts) Its a small light fixture, the lens measures about 3.5" in dia. and the outer flange measures a little over 6". I know the industry is moving away from these bulb types for many reasons and moving to an LED type light. I get that the LED type lights will require a housing upgrade as well which brings me to my question. What are my upgrade options limited too? can I buy a 10" led housing and fit that into my nitch? please help

You should find one to fit in old niches. Cant help more than that as what you may find on line or locally could well be different to what we would find especially not know the niche make or pictures.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.

So I need to figure out what model type niche is, then find a led housing that will fit that?

Yes Jim there are direct LED replacements for the old halogen T4 lamps. At only 45 ish watts they are affordable to run and around 10x the life span.

As this discussion is about lights, I have just noticed that my LED light has stopped working, I changed from bulb to LED many years ago because the voltage fluctuation meant bulbs didn't last that long, so, seeing as I will need a new light, any recommendations please?
