Help with pool pipes

Postby floresjesus44 » Sat 22 Jun, 2013 20:58

i'm not sure which direction the water flows in the pipes. i have it set up to where the pump picks up the dirt and puts it in the spa. can anyone help me figure out how to set up the pump so that the dirt goes into the filters and not the spa. also how to set it up the pipes for the skimmer and the waterfalls .

Help with pool pipes

Postby CGPoolman » Sun 23 Jun, 2013 10:39

Hi FloresJesus,

That's some configuration of pipes you have there! I see a lot of 3-way valves and a couple of automated valves as well. I'm willing to bet that they are set to bypass the filter when you are in "Spa" mode to increase flow into the spa. It is almost impossible to tell what valve controls what from a photo. The only way to really tell is to slowly turn valves on and off to see what they do in the pool.

The best advice I can give would be to have a tech come out and check all your valves. The tech can mark your pipes and valves with a sharpie or labels to tell you what controls what and which way the water flows.

Help with pool pipes

Here is my guess from left to right:

Waterfall - Controlled by grey valve
Pool Return
Skimmer/Main Drain - 2 Pipes
Spa main drain
Spa Return/Jets
Air vent for spa jets

The high pipe is a bypass for the spa and probably controlled by the grey valve.
