Just bought a house and pool filter leaks

I recently purchased a house and i know little to nothing about my new pool. I have managed tocdeal with the chemicals and clearing up the water but the sand filiter is leaking.

After changing out the sand I screwed the lid back on and filled up the pool. However when the pool was full the sand filter began to leak, slowly at first and then heavily when the pump is turned on. I was told that the sand was incorrect so i replaced it again and the issue persist.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
