How to Maintain your Pool

Can someone coach me on setting the three lines to the pump from the pool?
They are labeled (L to R) SKIM, M O, VAC.
The Hayward is traveling back and forth but it's "fins" aren't flapping as much as before.
I _think_ that action is controlled by the interaction of the 3 lines.
Thruthfully I know zip about pools

Nice Pool and neat setup
SKIM would be skimmer, VAC would be vacuum, M O not sure could be main drain
When vacuuming try turning the other two off
The returns to the pool go through the SWCG and back to the pool where does the other one go
I also noted on the SWCG the reading was 2100 is this the salt reading as it should be 2700 to 3400

Hi all, newbie to pool ownership and forum! Unsure if there is a setting i am missing, but i can't see or access the links in the OP. Can anyone give me some guidance on where to start for educating myself on self maintaining. We've gone a summer with having someone come in, but the cost is excessive and i'd like to be self sufficient. Albeit i'm starting in Winter, on an uncovered, gone-green pool!

Get yourself a decent FAS/DPD test kit for accurate testing (Taylor K2006C or TF100)
If your pool has gone green then you need to Slam relative to your recommended Pool Levels and the Chlorine / CYA Chart
Use the following common products to balance your pool
Liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite or plain bleach)
Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) to lower pH and TA
Bicarbonate of soda to raise TA
Aeration will raise pH only
Soda ash will raise pH and TA

Welcome, what are your issues? Best to start with a run down of your pool type and equipment. Also some water test information is always very helpful.

Hi, this simply isn't basic enough for myself. It lost me when it used an unexplained acronym in the second bullet point.

I can only assume this forum us for the experienced to pass their knowledge onto the semi-experienced rather than the newbie like myself. Looks like i'm better off going back to paying for pool maintenance if no such beginners guide exists.

Don't give up yet! we nearly all started at the same point (except me, I was a hydraulics engineer but before that I didn't know that much).
Skim = Skimmers
MO is more likely MD = Main Drain.
Vac = vacuum line you attach a vacuum driven pool cleaner to.

SWCG = Salt water Chlorine generator, the part that makes the chlorine sanitiser from the salt water in your pool.
