sand or scaling in bottom of pool

Postby eusta » Sun 17 Jul, 2016 17:49

i started to notice something that looks like white scaling or sand all over in the bottom of the pool. I have 36000 gallon saltwater pool, had the water tested and was told my calcium was low and my ph was high. Threw in 25lb of calcium and washed the cell with acid. I was getting worried that i have a leak in the vinyl pool and that sand is seeping thru.

Are you losing water? That will tell you if you have a leak
Do you have a sand filter? Sometimes sand can enter through the multiport valve

Thats correct. If you have a sand filter then there are chances of getting sand in the swimming pool. I have also faced this problem before. I usually call a swimming pool remodeling company and avail their services. They are experts in cleaning and replastering your pool.

Check the spider gasket in the multi port valve it might appear OK but appearance is deceptive, they are cheap to replace
