Hello.
I am new to all this but I am trying to learn the basics. I have a high PH problem. I get my ph to 7.4 and in the morning is 8.2.
I have turned off the air in the pool and PH is more stable now but still rising.
Any idea how to solve this problem? I'l add images of the equipament and pool so anyone with more knowledge could see whats the problem. Re: Ph levels rise overnight
Aerating the pool water will raise your PH
What are your levels? and what chemicals are you using to maintain your pool

The chemicals I use is chlorine when I "shocked" the water and afterwards I used some ph- to lower the PH, but now I use hydrochloric acid instead. I also use some "algastop" against algae. Of course I added salt as recommended from the pool store for the chlorine generator. I also have UV lamp in the system for additional water quality.
Levels of PH ? Now they are 7.9 and I added again acid to drop it to 7.2
Is there any way to negate the aeration of water effect ?

The first thing in water chemistry is to get the chemicals right.
So for raising pH use sodium carbonate (soda ash). For chlorine use calcium hypochlorite(this also will raise your pH).For raising the Total Alkalinity(TA) use sodium bicarbonate(baking soda). Now the procedure:- First ensure your TA is between 80 & 120 ppm. This is very important as the TA is a pH stabiliser and once the right value is reached, TA will not vary.Too low/high TA will cause the pool to become cloudy and algae prone. Next raise chlorine level to 3 ppm (10ppm for shocking). your ph will also rise due to the hypo. Finally raise your pH 7.5 to 7.8.You can use `pool blue' sachets (Home depot) in case you have an algae problem.Ensure proper water circulation through out the pool, there must never be any stagnant areas in the pool. All the above chemicals are generic and available in home depot, lowes or amazon. Once you get out of the habit of using propriety chemicals, you will get a good feel of pool chemistry, and your pool will be clear and blue. Brush your pool every few days, with the pump running on the main (bottom) suction. It is good to shock the pool every 15 days. By the way sodium bicarb can be used to make sodium carbonate. Just heat 200 g of sodium bicarb in a pan and keep stirring till the small bubble formation disappears (i.e all CO2 and and water vapour disappears). 200 gms of baking soda reduces to 120 gms of sodium carbonate. Cheers
