Keep Pool Winterized Through Season?

Postby quadzilla200 » Sun 07 Aug, 2016 09:18

We just purchased a home that is going to be getting renovated, which has an in ground pool. Nobody has been living in it this year so it has remained winterized. It has a nice cover on it. We are trying to decide what to do with it for the remainder of this year. We live in Missouri. Most likely pool season will be over by the end of September. We also live in a rural water district so the water is somewhat pricey.

We aren't sure what to do. I've been quoted $300 for opening and $250 if it needs to be cleaned. I know the water might cost $400-500 as well. I don't think we will use it but 5 times since we aren't living there yet. What are my best options for the remainder of this year and going into the spring.

The previous owner took care of it and winterized it last year, she just moved away before the spring came. I don't want major mechanical or cosmetic damage though by electing to leave it completely alone until next spring (will that occur?).

Thanks for your help.
