My Pool: in process of purchasing

Salt Vs Ozone

Postby Moby Z » Sat 10 Dec, 2016 19:14

Hello, I'm new here and I'm in the process of purchasing a new viking fiberglass pool.

I haven't settled on a filter system but I'm hearing a whole lot about Ozone filtration. What are the pros and cons of each one?

Hi Moby,
I will try my best to answer your question to the best of my knowledge.

First, these are the following disadvantages when using salt
salt is corrosive to soft, porous stone
salt relies on the usual levels of chlorine: 3-5 PPM
    salt has pH fluctuation issues

Ozone still use chlorine but at a very low level around .5-1 PPM. There are also less corrosion
Ozone is also known to kill 99.99% bacteria, viruses, ecoli and cryptosporidium. You'll definitely want to go for Ozone!

There are a number of Ozonators you can choose from: https://pstpoolsupplies.com/ozonators-f ... ming-pool/
