Tiny oval tan colored mite type insect

We have an inground pool and my toddler had a white hat on and when he got out of the pool, we noticed what looked like tiny tan colored mites on his hat. As soon as we came in, gave him a bath and shook my long hair over sink and also had them in my hair???? Probably would not have even known unless my son had them on his white hat. They are so small, you would not see them on your skin. Can anyone help please, I am almost afraid to go back in pool!!!!

I know this is an old thread but I’m just wondering if you ever found out what those mite-looking bugs are? I noticed a few on the metal poles when we unpacked our pool for the first time and now that the pool has been up for a couple weeks I’m seeing more and more of these tiny mites congregating on the metal poles all the way around the pool. Thanks for any insight you can share as I’m having trouble finding info about this online.
