white flakes

Postby Lorne » Tue 01 Aug, 2006 16:13

We put in a new salt chlorinator in May. Ever since, we've had little (sometimes up to a half inch) white flakes in the pool. They dissintigrate to the touch. Are these some kind of residue from the salt?

Also, I've heard that the water wouldn't taste salty until it gets to about 5000ppm. The system has been reading from 3100ppm to now 2900ppm but the water is still a little salty.

And there is a lot of white film on our tile at the spa spillover that has gotten worse since the chlorinator was put in. Is this salt as well?

Thank you in advance for any info!
