i just bought a house that already had a pool
i have the filter that uses "earth" thats what i understand it's called
anyway it will run for a few hours and then the water flow slows way down , it will pick back up if i bump the filter but then it only lasts a short time. any one know what is causing this? i have cleaned out he filter and have had the finger soaked the water has been shocked many times and the alge appers to be gone.

The cloth that covers the septums can get blocked with stuff over time. The solution is normally to soak in mild acid solution for 24 hours and then hose off thoroughly. If you have already tried this, you may be better off getting new septums.
