My new Intex pump is also Nosiey. Sounds like its grinding up rocks. I dont think its normal. My friend has one thats quiet.
This may sound like a silly comment - but when I set up our intex pool - the video made a point of checking to make sure that the filter was seated properly - did you check that before you filled the pool - maybe it is something as simple as the filter isn't in straight and it's bumping against the sides of the pump?
don't know - but it's worth checking out if you haven't...

intex pool pump
Yes I opened mine up and found the same problem with the impeller. Even their own web site doesn't sell the impeller. That is exactly what I am doing on here looking for an intex pool impeller. I would rather buy another pump from another manufacturer than buy one from intex. I have been looking at the koi pond filters and pumps for a pool the size of mine.
These intex pumps sound very cheap. Impellers shouldnt grind down like that- especially from some leaves. Get a real pool pump. A grinding or screaching noise usually means bad motor bearings, however, a similar noise could be the impeller.

Noisy pump
Hi Guys, I had this problem for a while until I filled the pool right up to an inch or so from the top...then the pump was suddenly quiet. Seems that the pump is manufactured to work under a certain amount of pressure (from the water) and if that pressure falls too low (from low water level) then it makes a lot of noise. I have an Intex 10ft above ground pool. Hope that helps
