Black Algae

Postby wallyc » Mon 18 Jun, 2007 21:36

I have spent over $200 in treatments on the infestation of black algae in my pool. I have spent countless hours using pumice stone to break the heads of the deposits and then treated them with what was reccommendened by the pool company. What should I do now? I have a power washer and and tempted to drain my pool and blast the stuff off. I then wil probably use an acid bath to kill any thing left in the crevices. I don't know what the mixture of acid and water is for the acid bath. Can anyone help? Thank you for any help.

Plaster pool, I take it? I can tell you it's worth it to pay a pro to do it. But if you insist on doing it yourself, below is a site that I found via a google search on "how to acid wash a swimming pool"

www dot poolcenter dot com forwardslash acidwash.htm

Sometimes they do an acid wash and then a chlorine wash afterwards.
