CYA and chlorine tabs in skimmer?

Can I put CYA in a sock in the skimmer if there are already 1" chlorine tabs in there? What is the best way to add cya?


New to pool maintenance.
In-ground plaster pool and waterfall spa, 7000 gallons total.
Replastered April 2019.

Biggest issue is when the pump is off the strong concentration of acidic CYA attacks the skimmer, plumbing and pump.

The most accepted way is to hang in a sock in front of a return. That way it is introduced to the pool and not it's equipment
BTW if you are using tabs you are introducing CYA anyway
Best to use liquid chlorine (plain bleach)
