Tiny bubbles on last return?

Postby poolschool » Sat 02 May, 2020 11:26

Hi all,

I have a new pool: ~14400 gallons with solar heating panels on a one story roof.

I am trying to dial in the pump settings but I need some help. I have a SolarTouch panel with an Intelleflo pump. I also have 3 return jets.

Currently, when the heater is on, the pump is at 4000rpms, which seems a bit high, but at the 3rd return, there are tiny bubbles which can only be seen in the shadow... Should this be concerning? If not, I can dial it down to 3300 rpm, but I think more tiny bubbles are seen on the last return.

Also, with the intelleflo, since it is set to ext ctrl, if the solartouch is set to off (due to the roof temp and pool temp discrepancies), will it default to the schedule? If so, it's better for me to adjust the schedule based on the pump not pushing water to the roof, right?

Thank you for all your help!

You are sucking in air somewhere on the suction side. Check the pump basket "O" ring and lubricate with silicon grease
This happens more when the pump is under load (vacuuming) Also air seeks the highest point
It's best to run the pump as slow as possible as it will filtrate better
I'm afraid I have no knowledge of the Intelliflo

Hmm... I thought it was the o-ring, but I ruled that out because it looked clean. I'll try to lube it with silicon grease.

Also, I think my filter has a leak... Do would that cause any air leaks?
