Alkalinity help!

Postby kristalou » Tue 03 Jul, 2007 16:48

I am still having a problem with low (I think) alkalinity! I have a 3,200 gallon vinyl pool and when I test for alkalinity, I put the purple drop in the water and it turns a VERY faint purple color. Does this mean it is low? I would think it would turn dark purple if there were a lot of alkalinity in the water. I then have to add more drops to turn it back to clear or yellow and I keep adding drops and nothing happens! I have already added like 3lbs of alkalinity plus and 2 boxes of baking soda. Any suggestions?
