Good day everyone, I have an above 24ft ground pool and I'm about to start opening it soon.
Pool as always has algea, its pretty dark now as we had extremely warm weather and was wondering what's the best way to open this salt water pool. 2nd year into this so I'm fairly newish.
I bought a starter kit and already have of shock pouches.
I was thinking what steps in order you guys do to open up a pool?
1) Top up the pool with water
2) set the filter on bypass and vacuum the pool
3) add the starter kit and few extra shock patches
4) allow the pool to cycle
5) vacuum again
6) get water tested
7) keep adding chlorine pucks until it gets warm
add salt and then turn on the chlorinator only when water is above 75. I don't have a heater but I have solar panels which they worked really well yesterday.
Thanks

Re: Opening the pool
1. Dont remove the cover but do shock the pool for 24-48 hours.
2. Buy a decent test kit so you can test yourself.
3. Top up the water.
4. Cycle the filtration.
5. Remove cover and vacuum.
6. Test water and add more chlorine if required.
7. Only use chlorine tabs unti CYA stabiliser is at 30-50ppm ( do not use dip strips).
Then the same as you wrote.
