How do you decipher what's in the tabs?
What is available chlorine?
In The Swim plays word games, and I'm sure other manufacturers do as well.
What is the important number to be looking at? Go to the big box store, Costco. They have HTH with 92.4% trichloro-s-triazinetrione. What exactly does that mean about how potent my chlorine purchase is?

Thats Trichlor, cheaper versions are Dichlor. Tri has more chlorine by a 1/3rd. Dichlor has more cyanuric acid (CYA) so increases your stabiliser level quicker by a 1/3rd more.

Why would you want to, the same amount of chlorine dissolved in a bigger pool would result in a lower ppm than a small pool. Otherwise you'll get yourelf into mm/l teritory and Its just not necessary. Suggest you look at the chemical formula for trichlor if you are interested.

Why would i want to. Hmmm. Interesting question. Maybe to see how much chlorine I'm getting in the cheapo tabs from a big box store, vs how much chlorine you're getting in the tab sold by a pool shop for more money? My question has absolutely nothing to do with ppm. All I want to know is how much available chlorine is in a tablet. Any other takers?

Ok, if the tabs are trichlor from the cheap box store and trichlor from the pool store then very similar amounts of chlorine as these are a std formula spat out of huge chemical works and just labelled with who ever is paying. If the tabs are Dichlor from one supplier and trichlor from amother then my first explanation applies.
