Drained pool concerns

Postby LarDog » Sun 09 Sep, 2007 01:12

We are thinking of buying a house with a pool. The pool has been drained. What concerns are there with a pool that has been drained?

Why was it drained? What type pool, plaster, fiberglass? Did it leak, It should not popout of ground in shallow end at this time of year.

A good home inspector should check and let you know. A good thing to get is pool covered under house insurance so if pump, filter, heater break it's covered and fixed.

Thanks for your reply. The house going back to the bank (short sale). The bank had it drained for safety reasons I guess. I think it has been dry for about a month and a half. The pool surface is plaster with little pebbles.
