Sand Filter Startup

Postby Guest » Mon 22 Oct, 2007 15:48

I opened some days ago for the first time my pool
I just operated my brand new pump + sand filter for the first time.
Sand came out of the return jet and made a mess! Then I read that the filter must be backwashed on before filtering for the first time. Question: Will the filter have any further problems because of what I did???

no problems because you did it that, they tell you to backwash so you don't do what you just did.

Thanks!
Just to know, why DID sand came out of the filter?
Did they pour it without meaning to in the pipe coming up from the laterals (the one they tell you to cap when pouring the sand)? or was it the eccess sand being flushed away?
