Height of above ground pool deck?

Postby coldmark » Fri 09 May, 2008 10:06

My wife wants a deck all the way around our recently purchased pool. Does the decking go above the rail or below? And how close to the rail should the decking be to allow for frost heave?

The pool we bought has a nice heavy duty rail system. Thanks!

Go level or below top rail. If you go above, you'll run into trouble if you ever have to replace the liner and covering it is a beyotch.

Hopefully, someone else will be able to answer your frost heave question.

Happy swimming! 8)

That is some deck! It looks great!

I thought you had a metal framed above ground pool.

Just type the link and it goes through okay without taking anything out.

great looking deck, and that is a metal frame pool, had one like that last summer and could not stand the filter so i replaced it with a waterway 1hp and a 50lb filter and took care of the filter problem. but i do love the deck.

Thanks for the photos! A picture is worth a thousand words. If I go under the rail with the deck, I was planning to go an inch or 2 under. Is there a reason why I would want to go a foot and half like you did? Thanks again!

Some people do go that far down, although I don't like the look of it <personally> and it all comes down to personal choice.

When we did our decking, I was a dummy and went over the top rail and had to cut some off to get to the rails... so going an inch or two under is the best IMO. <<only my opinion 8)

And for some dumb reason, I thought those were your pics. Silly me.
