above-ground pool base

Postby reardon » Fri 16 May, 2008 07:59

I have found a few websites that state that it's alright to use rigid foam board insulation, 1" thick, as a base for an above-ground pool, as opposed to sand. The board is 4' x 8' x 1" and can be purchased from about any lumber/retailer. I bought a 15' x 30' pool, and am thinking about using that. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? I'm a first time pool owner and could use the advice.

I probably won't be much help. I called my installer last night to ask if we should put anything between the sand and liner and he said no. He's done a lot of installs and said he likes them right on the sand. I have no idea if this guy knows what he's talking about. Installation came free with the pool. Good luck!
