Pump hose collapses

Postby jwerwin » Wed 20 Aug, 2008 05:51

Why is the hose from my above ground pool to my Intex 2500 gph pump collapsing?

Had the same issue.

Finally used a 12" chunk of 1" PVC to place in the suction side. Then slide the filled hose over the PVC.

Make sure the pipe won't go in the hole and is not so long it sticks out of the water or you'll have bigger problems than a bad hose.

So much for non-collapsing hoses huh?

Best of luck!

Well my friend, if your unit truly is pumping out 2500gph, thats about 41gpm which is getting close to the limit of 1.5" rigid PVC pipe. If you have that 1.25" ribbed flex pipe then its already got too much suction in it. It would not take much to collapse it.
