New Community Pool Startup Costs

Can anyone provide a rough estimate on typical costs to start up a new public pool. It's complete and has water. But now need pool company to put in chemicals to secure permit. And then weekly maintenance. What would you expect to pay for initial chemicals to get water balanced, etc. And then what is average weekly and/or monthly costs to maintain a pool. Currently we expect very limited use (new community with very few residents). Thanks!

I take care of the YMCA salt pool, 80,000 gallons. It depends on your fill water and the size of the pool. It shows you have a 22,000 gallon pool. We're doing our shut-down the week of Sept. 7 and this is what we'll use.

50 lbs. of granular chlorine $110
6 bags Calcium at $29 each
6 bags Sodium Bicarb at $10 each


I would say a rough estimate for your pool would be:

chlorine
2 bags calcium (but check the hardness of the fill water first)
2 bag bicarb
tabs $50
Algaecides $30

Probably around $250-300 for a proper start up.
