Backwashing question

Postby cab » Mon 19 Jul, 2010 20:39

i just got a newly constructed pool. it is getting dirt in it from bare ground around the deck therefore dirt is getting blown in the pool. question is it normal to have to backwash a couple times a day? at first it was real dirty and i had to do it 4-5 times a day. the contractor told me to run the pump 24 hrs for the first week. is this normal?

24/7 filtering for 1st week is normal. with enough dirt blowing in then increased backwashing is required. Normal vice excessive backwashing would require a judgment relating filter size to amount of dirt.
