Screw trapped under vinyl liner-- redo entire job or roll in?
My contractor finished a complete overhaul of our pool. Redo vermiculite, new pipes, new liner, new DE filter etc. About a week after we paid him, we noticed a 1" screw trapped, tight enough so you can see each thread clearly at the bottom of the deep end! (picture shows quarter next to it for size) The contractor says he will come back and roll it into the vermiculite. If it were a pebble, I'd feel more comfortable, but this is a very pointy screw! The texture of the liner (Loop Loc, 28 mil, textured) Should I be satisfied with a "patch" if that's what he wants to do? We paid roughly $20,000 for the entire job and I feel like I shouldn't be worrying every day whether the screw will pop through, but I'm curious what standard practice would be when the installer makes a mistake like this

Well I wouldn't be at all happy about that, crap does sometimes happen but a bodge to cover it, no way. At some point (pun intended) that screw would make an appearance and really ruin your month, would the pool man be happy to come back and repair it then!

I'm a novice at dealing with this. If anyone is/knows an installer, what's the likelihood that me pushing for a total replacement (drain water and refill required) would be successful? On the other hand, I could ask that he guarantee in writing this patch to last the life of the liner as well as ask him to refund some % of money? He did a total of $17,500 worth of work for me. The part that was old liner removal, disposal, and replacement with this new liner was $5700. His contract is very general and refers to "a workmanlike manner and according to industry standards." Advice? Thank you!
