Surface problem -- what work is needed? (pics)

We're considering buying a home that was foreclosed on, and the home has a below ground pool that seems to have some issues with the surface. Though I'd like to have a pool, I've never owned or maintained one--what sort of work/expense would I be facing on this?

Here are some photos of the pool -- any suggestions? Depending on the cost (as an REO, we'd pay any repair expenses), it could definitely break the deal so would be really interested in advice anyone might have--

It would help to know the volume of the pool or perimeter and the state where it is located.
You can get than response from the local owners or companies.
You may have a copper stains there in the spa from the copper tubing in the heater, but that is just speculation. Describe if the surface is flaking or leaving plaster grit.
Yo may be facing a re-plaster which would typically cost around 38-42 per square foot of surface.
Still even 5000 expense may not be a deal breaker in a view of an advantageous foreclosure.

Am in Southern California. Am not sure how to calculate square footage--will have to go back to the property to determine flaking or plaster grit. Will have a chance to look at it again in a few days...was just trying to get some idea of how bad the pool looked and if it was going to be a 4 or 5-figure job to fix, etc.

Appreciate the reply

I would add just one more thing.
In the last picture i see something like cartridge filter.
Pool this nice deserves better.
Ask the potential contractor to supply 48sqft DE filter for a cost.
About 600-700.00.
Will do wonders for the pool, your nerves and your pocketbook for as long as you will be there.
Gunite pool on cartridge is like Porsche with Ford Pinto engine.
