Still cloudy after using chemicals

Postby Susiturk53 » Sat 19 May, 2018 17:04

Y’all, we are about nuts. We have a7800 gallon above the ground pool that had a bad green algae bloom. We shocked and shocked to get rid of algae, but then had cloudy water. Took a sample to the pool store, have used alkalinity up twice, muriatic acid next, still cloudy . We don’t know what to do next but hate to keep buying chemicals at the pool store. Anyone out there have any advice?

First of all get a decent test kit (Taylor K2006c TF100) pool stores are in the business of selling
You then need to Slam (Shock Level and Maintain) relative to your Chlorine / CYA Chart and your recommended Pool Levels
Use the common products available from most grocery / hardware stores to balance your pool
Liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite or plain bleach)
Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) to lower pH and TA
Bicarbonate of soda to raise TA
Aeration will raise pH only
Soda ash will raise pH and TA

Let us have a complete list of your numbers
