Filaments

I cleared the green out of my pool with algicide and a mega-hit of chlorine after backwashing and rinsing the filter, then running the filter for 48 hours. The water returned to clear and blue, and once I could see the bottom I brushed it clean too. Now I have what can only be described as milky filaments, seemingly by the thousands, floating at all levels in the water. What the heck is this?
