Dirt in bottom of pool

I cleaned my pool yesterday with vacumn and Kreepy Krawly until it was spotless. All chemicals right where they should be. Salt water pool. Before I went to bed last night, the pool was clean. First thing this morning, it was still clean. Pump turned on and within 20 minutes there was dirt on the bottom of the pool. Collects on the steps and the hot tub (the tub overflows into the pool). I am afraid I have a broken pipe somewhere that is sucking in dirt, but if that was the case, it seems the pool filter would stop it. Recently cleaned the cartridge filters. Some sand and dirt in them, but nothing out of the ordinary. How do I find out what the problem is?
