help needed with new pool

Postby ksamples » Tue 16 Aug, 2005 16:00

I don't know how to describe our problem, but my daughter through her googles saw "feathers" in the pool. When I looked through, there is all kinds of whitish material floating in the pool. You can't see it from above the water. Is this the "milky" description I've read about or something else? Does anyone know how to fix this? Do we let it settle and then vacuum the bottom? Or add some kind of chemical? We just got our pool a few weeks ago. It had been fine until the last couple of days. Thanks!

Cloudy water

Have you been using a flocculant/ coagulant/ clarifier?

Overuse of these chemicals in a pool can result in what you describe as "feathering". Filtration and time is the cure for the cloudy water.
