Hi all,
It's me again and still haven't changed my pool water, I'm afraid! Funnily enough, the CyA level has dropped by a lot but still at ridiculous levels. I promise the pool water will be fully drained to the floor on the 6th of October.
In the meantime, despite the CyA level dropping, it's getting harder and harder to increase the FC level - I put in 14 litres of 15% sodium hypochlorite and the next day, the FC level was a rock zero. The water is a bit cloudy like a fog, but it wasn't like this a week ago, it was crystal clear. I've back washed the sand filter a couple days ago, but no change. The UV lamp is nearing expiry with 700 hours remaining on the bulb, a new one has been ordered.
Latest figures taken by the Taylor FAS-DPD kit:
FC: 0.0 (very trace)
CC: 0.2
pH: 7.4
TA: 200
CH: 310
CyA: still off the scale but much lower than last time - it took 11 drops to hide the black dot, but now the bottle needs to be half full to hide the black dot.
Previously, 9 litres of bleach was enough to bring FC to about 2, and that's with 11 drops to hide the black dot in the CyA test, but now 14 litres isn't enough? Do I need to add in flocculant?
(I know, I know, change the damn water, I really want to, but can't til the 6th, so what to do in the meantime please?)
Here's a pic of the foggy water - the bright white dots are sediment

Re: Foggy pool water
How old is the Sodium Hypochlorite, it degrades over time so you may be only putting in salt water
Do a test in a container with fresh measured water and calculate how much Sodium Hypochlorite to add to bring up to a specific level and test
If you are draining on the 6th I would be inclined to not worry about the foggy water

Depends on how long they had it
Is there a manufactured date on it
