LOW PSI ON PUMP

Postby TOMJR » Tue 10 Jul, 2007 21:32

I recently flocked my pool and it did the work of clearing up the
cloudy pool water..I have a inground vinyl pool 20,000 gals.

When i vacumed the debris after flocking, I placed the pool filter
system on "waste" thus bypassing my sand filter..

The problem i've encounterd ever since vacuming is I now have
a very low psi registering on my pool motor..btwn 5-10psi..and
the pump doesn't seem to "prime" completely, the debris
basket doesn't fill completely once pump is on..

I don't know what is causing this and hope somebody can tell me how to remedy the situation...I hope it's not my pool motor as i just recently replaced it..
PLEASE HELP ANY ADVIcE WUD BE APPRECIATED.. Tom

Have you checked your impellor? Sometimes waste can block the flow of water and the 1st sign is low psi. You should have a metal band with an adjustment screw that you can loosen and remove. Clean by hand and reassemble. It's pretty easy and takes about 10 minutes tops.
