Lots of Question re: cloudy, then green and losing water

We are very new at this.
Our test strips read normal yet the water is either cloudy, then turns green... we shock it and the algae settles, vacuum, back-wash but it is still cloudy.
We are also having issues with sediment every day.
We have replaced the filter thinking this was the issue.
We also seem to be loosing water, not too significant but wondered how much evaporates and what is normal?

Hi and welcome.

In order for us to "HELP!" we have to know where your water is at. Take a sample down to the pool store for a full analysis. Resist the temptation to be sold buckets of chemicals, and post ALL the numbers here.

The best thing to do would be to purchase a good test kit and learn to do it yourself. It's really very easy. Just as every cook needs a set of measuring cups & thermometer, every pool owner should have a good test kit. Strips are notoriously inaccurate (as are many pool stores).
I'm no expert...just a long time pool owner. The real experts are at www . troublefreepool . com

Download Bleachcalc free at troublefreepool . com /files/BleachCalc262.exe and start saving money on chemicals.
