Cloudy pool for weeks!
We have been pool owners for 5 years now and I have never had this problem. Two weeks ago we got a large amount of rain and my pool clouded up and I can not get it to clear up. We have a 50,000 50X20 concrete pool with a DE filter system. I first thought it was my filter so I changed out all of my DE. I have shocked my pool and added baking soda to bring up the Ph. Both my chl and ph seem to be in the normal range. But I still have a clould pool. I also bought some clarifier and it did not help either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. E. Ellis
Elisee:
When you have cloudy water what you dont want to do this minute is to add baking soda this will increase the carbonates in your water.
Without knowing your water chemistry it will be hard to give good advice however here are some easy and simple ways to your cure although it i wont suggest it but it will certainly fix your problem:
(1) Run your filter for 24 - 36 hrs by the very least.
(2) Shock your pool and bring the pH down to 4 (this would definately
clear yr pool know yr only problem is with corrosion)
(3) Once you have reached the desired clarity bring yr TA back too 100
with sodium bicarb.
(4) Check your pH and aerate when necessary with the addition of a UpH
