Hello Forum... I am new here.
I recently rented a house that has a swimming pool. The heater has been gone for decades but the gas line is still in place. I was wondering if I could use a regular home hot water heater with a pump, a few electric valves and timers to effectively warm my pool. It is not a large pool and 5 or 6 degrees would make a huge difference. I was thinking 40 gallons of hot introduced into the pool every hour or hour and a half would have to make a significant difference in several days time. perhaps run it through two? (80 gal. every hour)
has anyone tried a set up like this?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hot Water Heater
Water heaters work by running heated water through one circuit of a heat exchanger and pool water through the other. This is more efficient than heating fresh water and periodically adding it to the pool. The higher heat differential when using a heat exchanger is preferable for economical heating.
