Hi all, am new to this. i have a hayward sand filter that is leaking from the waste line. i have it on "filter" but water seems to be flowing out of this line (waste) also causing our pool to loose water. have had to fill two times since saturday. any advice out there? also want to try the bbb method but i can't figure out the proper amounts. 27' x 48" round above ground. :?:

Either replace the spider gasket in the multiport valve or add a valve on the waste line or both.

Did you get your issue fixed?? I'm having the exact same problem and I've taken my Spider gasket in and it checks out ok. I'm getting plenty of pressure out of the jet when running "filter"...barely any pressure when running backwash. Water is in the glass, but does not move around like last year. COMPLETELY STUMPED!!

Santram-

If you have the same filter, Hayward S180T Sand FIlter, and it has the Vari-Flo SP740 valve, the spider gasket is number: HAYSPX0740D. They cost about $25-$30.
