Pool cleaner going in circles around half the pool

Postby wozzzzza » Wed 27 Feb, 2013 17:04

I have an onga hammerhead pool cleaner, my pool is 15 metres long and it came with 10 metres of hose.
i tested it and it worked fine, it ran the entire length of the hose then came back again all in random patterns exactly as it is supposed to work. i decided to go get another 7 metres of hose so it would reach all the pool, but it doesnt want to go any further than it went with the 10 metres of hose, which is around the half way point in the pool and not as random as with the 10 metres of hose missing parts.
anyone know why this would happen and how to fix??

Where are your return lines located?

if the returns are on the side its not going too all you have to do is adjust the eyeballs down towards the bottom at a 45 degree angle..

ive supplied and installed over 100 of these cleaners and never really had a problem..

if you could upload a pic of the pool that would be great so i can have an understanding of the pools setup

pool is oblong like Image

15 metres long. just had a look at the jets, they are not adjustable, its just a piece of around 35mm conduit cut flush with the side of the pool about 400mm below the surface and projects a visible water disturbing gush on the surface. this maybe the problem hey, this interupts the hose and steers it back again?? any suggestions how to fix this?? maybe get an insert with a 45 degree angle to point the oulet to the bottom when cleaner is in the pool??
and theres a skimmer box at the far ends and the outlets are 3 metres apart near centre of pool on same side in centre of the pools small arc

ok in that case all you have to do is buy some push in eyeballs.
you can just puch these in and it has a adjustment where you can move the return down towards the bottom at a 45 degree angle.

any local pool shop should have these in stock at all times.

this will stop make the pool cleaner hose to float freely around the pool and also improve circulation of you chemcials.

have a nice weekend.

put them eyelet things on and pointed the stream downwards and still it wont go any further than the half way point. i have reduced the hose to 13 metres from 17 and still wont go past halfway. seems to make no difference the length of hose, it just wont go past halfway for some reason.
flow is all good. i have even turned the other pump off so that the closest output doesnt blow the hose away but no luck.
any other stuff i can try??

come to conclusion that i need to do my pool in 2 parts, deep end first then shallow end as anything longer than 10 metres of hose the thing just starts missing parts.
