Cloudy water after alkalinity and shock

Postby Rosser » Thu 06 Jul, 2006 23:25

I got my water tested and was told to add alkalinity. I added it..waited 7 hours, added some algicide..waited 2 hours. Shocked the pool per the pool store instructions. My pool instantly became cloudy after the shock was added..and it is not clearing..now what??? :?

I have a number of probems. We set up an above ground pool here and ordered chemicals separately. I have a number of big containers of calcium hypochlorite(65%), with suggested maintenance of 5-6g per m3. I also have bags of sodium bisulphate, with no concentration indication or suggested serving. There is chinese writing on the bags and the only thing that could be construed as helpful is "Tech Grade". How much of this stuff should I be putting in to get the Ph down? Because we have major problems with Ph here.

Also when I put chlorine into the pool, it goes cloudy. What should I be doing?

FYI - I'm waiting on shipment of new multi-test strips.

Cheers,
Jeff
