Pool Stains or Algae?

Postby Paige » Thu 29 Aug, 2013 21:42

Some of it will rub off but most of it will not come off. I already tried shocking it and brushing it. Can someone help me what this is and how to get rid of it? I think the link below will show the picture I took.

Looks like rust spots. Try a stain eraser or a citric acid stain remover

two primary causes of rust stains : metals from external sources such as cheap pool salt, hair pins, nails and other metal objects that will rust in the pool water ; small metal fragments used in the pool interior and can present as a rust stain after pool is filled.

you can remove these stains by simply using ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C. moreover, check all the pool equipment for corrosion and repair, or replace anything that is showing signs of rust. The water must be tested to check pH levels as well. A mixture alkaline water and metals can often be the cause of problems. Use a water softener if you live in a hard water area.

Ascorbic Acid Treatment is the cheapest way to remove iron stains but you need to use a sequestrant to hold the iron in suspension
I have also used a Purity Pool Underwater Acid Wash Kit which also works effectively
