Reconnecting pipes to new pump

Postby bobds » Sun 08 Sep, 2013 14:02

Sorry if I sound like a lightweight (but I guess I am). I want to replace my pool pump myself. But I'm a little intimidated by the plumbing configuration going into both ports. One is vertical, the other is horizontal. PVC is 2 inch, and I'm concerned about whether or not there will be enough play in the pipes to be able to make the connection to the new fitting, since the pipes are fairly short, and the connections at the other ends of the pipes are totally rigid. Are there any tricks to doing this?

Horizontal feed impeller= supply from pool.
Vertical comes from impeller= feeds to the backwash valve then to the filter can.
If you cannot position the pump to gain distance for ply, use one 2"union coupling on vertical side.
