This is our 3rd year with TFP  (the F#cking Pool as we've come to call it) The first year the water was a bit low, last year the entire shallow end was almost empty. This year the deep end is nearly empty. What a nasty surprise. :wtf:
Any input to finding the leak, I have a feeling it's the bottom drain but need assistance and advice. There is no evidence of active leaking on the ground around the pool area, but it's all downhill so it could go unnoticed. We closed it up in October so it's been 6+ months covered.
Thanks.
BTW, I just ordered a Hayward Pro-Series S244T 24" Inch Inground Swimming Pool Sand Filter to replace the current filter that wasn't really doing the job.

My suspicion would be a hole in the liner in the deep end floor, or a leak in the main drain sump (less likely). From the looks of your picture the liner has pulled away from the corners and walls due to no water holding it in place - usually means a new liner, which will solve any liner leak problems. Have the installer carefully inspect the main drain sump for leaks prior to putting in the new liner.

We found 2 puncture/cuts in the side wall of the deep end in an area where nobody could reach in normal use. We cannot image how they got there, as we use rarely go in the pool and there are no guests or kids to cause unnoticed damage. It's a mystery. The holes are now patched but we are having an issue finding a water source. 30000 from our well would be a problem. I wondered about how the liner seems to be stretched now that there is no water, and if it will go back in place once it's refilled. If a new liner is inevitable then we'll probably have the pool reconfigured so it's not so large as our pool person recommended doing. :? And the new sand filter just arrived. If we were desperate for it, it would've taken weeks to get here.

Razz,

Make a few calls in your area. Some construction companies have a water tanker for hire, they can fill your pool in a few trips. If you know someone in the Fire Department, they can do this as well. I worked on a liner replacement for a Firefighter several years ago and once we cut in the new liner the truck started pumping water. Pool was about halfway full by the time we had our stuff loaded up and were pulling out of the driveway.

Chuck's advice above is solid - you don't want to try refilling the pool now that the liner has shrunk. Once the pool starts to fill the liner will pull away from the wall and could possibly take some of the liner tracking with it resulting in very costly repairs. A new liner would be the best way to go.

There is no doubt a new liner is needed, at this point, unfortunately. Thanks for the info.

The liner is in, and the pool is filling slowly using our well. This liner is installed so much better than the other one, it fits like a glove where the other had huge wrinkles. The installers left 2 vacuum hoses behind the liner to suck while the water is going in, they're running 24/7 since Friday PM. Is that normal?
The deep end is filled up to the beginning of the shallow end so there's still a long way to go. Then the fun of getting it stabilized etc.

Pool is still filling, decided to add salt to the water by lowering a mesh container with Morton pool salt and let it dissipate into the water. Now, several hours later the water is brown and we can't see the bottom anymore. Was this a bad idea? Since there is no filter running and skimmers haven't been reinstalled as the water level isn't high enough so the salt is just dissolving into the water. Can this be the reason the water is brown or maybe we are getting junk from the well, like maybe the water is running out. Panicking. :shifty: And he added chlorine tablets to the mesh container so there's some salt and now chlorine in a pool that is not being filter or aerated. Maybe it makes no difference. I don't know.
