losing pool water

My inground pool is losing water through the waste pipe. I have replaced the Hayward filter valve, but it still loses water. I put the valve on recirculate and experience no water loss.

Would placing a valve on the waste pipe so it can be closed be advisable?

Yes you can put a valve on the waste line.Shouldnt do this with a new multiport valve,sounds like the gasket is getting rolled out of place
